A True Gem
We stayed and got married here in November 2019, and we have nothing to say but WOW! This place is beyond fantastic – a true gem. The location is picture perfect, there is plenty of space for family to be far enough apart but still gather together, and the beach is literally a stones throw away.
On top of that, the owner is extremely accommodating and the property manager Fran goes above and beyond the call of duty. We couldn’t have asked for a nicer person!
If you are thinking about booking Barefoot for your wedding or even just to stay, we highly recommend it – it’ll not only make your jaws drop in awe, but also your guests.

Gorgeous Property
We had the most wonderful holiday in your gorgeous property. Thank you. We rode bikes on the beach; we were woken by birds in the morning, went and watched the sunrise, and then went back to bed (bliss); we chased the sun from room to room like cats; and we slept deeply. We saw dawn on Anzac Day from Broken Head, and I will remember that always. I would go back in a heartbeat

Seamless
We booked our wedding at Barefoot at Broken Head, as well as stayed there for a week with family and friends to continue our celebrations.
The venue is stunning, in a great location with fantastic amenities.
Liaising with Tim to book the venue was seamless, and Tim was very accommodating with our change of dates due to the lock downs in 2021.
Fran was a pleasure to work with in organising our wedding, liaising with suppliers and coordinating everything on the day.
Looking forward to staying there again, and would not hesitate to recommend Barefoot for a small intimate wedding or celebration.

A Very Special Place
We had a fantastic week at Barefoot – it is a very special place. The weather for four of the days was ideal and even though it rained a little on the Thursday it did provide a different but enjoyable experience. The facilities were top class and the lap pool and the reading pool provided hours of fun. The beach bikes and boards were well used.
Frances’ meet and greet was warm and friendly and set the mood for the week. Her set up of the sleeping arrangements was perfect and all family members had plenty of space.
Andres and Franco from A chef’s pocket gave us a very enjoyable and delicious dinner.
The whole experience will give the family a lifetime memory.

It's better than everything
Picture the apocalypse; I’m talking, a rainy, muddy, freezing post Splendour in the Grass 4 hour bus line – the literal pits. Now picture the complete opposite; that is this place. A warm, cosy, secluded, forested, paradisical refuge. You want a healing hung over coffee and fresh treat from the nearby (epic) bakery? You got it. You want to interact with no one while you lounge in the pool lounge ledger? You got it. You want to cool off in the pool after a hard day of lounging? You got it. You want to soak in the tub under the stars? You got it. Can you play the piano? Me either, but this place has one. We stayed a few wonderful nights in the thick of winter and had our own private oasis among the trees and away from the chaos of Splendour-riddled Byron Bay. Secluded enough that you feel totally at peace, but close enough to the beach and coffee that you don’t feel too far from the creature comforts of home. Except that this place is way better than your home (if it’s not, how is that even possible? Do you own a tropical island?), it’s better than everything. 11/10, would recommend.

It was Perfect
We didn’t know exactly the type of wedding we wanted until we found barefoot online, and it was perfect!
Frances was incredibly helpful in organising everything for us, and we had everything we needed in one place on the day, with a garden ceremony straight into reception, and stunning photos on the beach.
Staying in the villa with our families and bridal party was also extra special.
All our friends loved the wedding, and some have tried to imitate for their own.

The house is absolutely STUNNING!
We booked 5 days at Barefoot for our intimate Broken Head wedding and it was everything we wished for and more!
Firstly, the house is absolutely STUNNING! The open, indoor/outdoor living is so relaxing and dreamy. We had 9 adults and 2 children in the house and never felt on top of each other. The space is so well designed that there is always space to get away and have some quiet, private time away from the other guests but also large communal areas to gather and socialise.
Secondly, the location! I think Broken Head speaks for itself with how beautiful the location is! A short walk down a private footpath from the house to a wide stretch beach that was so quiet that it felt like our own private beach! From the beach and from the road, you wouldn’t even know the house was there. It is so private, yet so close to town if needed. The gardens of the house were just as beautiful, sitting on the back deck and the day bed of the honeymoon suite, listening to the waves of the ocean and the birds in the trees was just absolute bliss!
Lastly, Frances – the house manager. So friendly and helpful! Frances held my hand through-out the whole wedding planning period. Answering my silly questions and basically planned the whole run of the day for me! She understood our dreams of a minimalist, intimate wedding and made it work! She was there the day of the ceremony helping to set up and helping to organise the day – way more than she responsible for!

I would definitely recommend Barefoot for a wedding destination or even just a get away with friends and/or family – we will definitely back!!

Feels like Paradise
I have stayed in many airbnbs all over the world and Barefoot at Broken Heads tops them all. The home is very unique, Bali-style open plan living with gorgeous lush manicured gardens. Truly feels like paradise there with a private path to a secluded beach. Pictures do not do the place justice. Each bedroom it’s own structure giving us all separation with an open air living room in the middle. The home is luxurious, I appreciate the nice linens and a fully stocked kitchen which can be rare on airbnb – everything we needed as we do lots of cooking. The house is only a 3 minute drive from a little town with shops to get what we needed and less than 10 mins to Byron Bay! The service Tim provides is also exceptional. He accommodated us for an VERY early check in, was easy to communicate with and even organized change of bed linens as we had guests change over. He suggested activities, has bikes and boards at the house for use. Cannot recommend this enough and can’t wait to rent again!

We will never forget your amazing hospitality
Tim and Frances are absolute GEMS, the booking process was smooth, the preparation for our stay was fantastic. The house itself has BLOWN us away…. the location is wonderful, the gardens a tranquil retreat, we loved that with all the pavilions we were able to escape the noise of the family when needed, but also able to gather comfortably in the large kitchen and lounge. We had 8 adults and 4 kids with every creature comfort we could need.
The best part of this amazing property is Frances, we held our wedding ceremony on the beach and our reception dinner on the back deck. Every step of the way Frances held my hand through the planning and went above and beyond to make our day smooth sailing. From arranging flowers on our arbour in the wind, to shedding a tear as we had our first dance in the garden, Frances was such a huge part of our day. We will never forget your amazing hospitality. We look forward to sharing this special place with family and friends in years to come.
Tim if you ever do decide to part ways with this gem, make sure the new owners continue to share it as you do, it is a delightful part of the world, it is so great you share this with everyone.

Barefoot at Broken Head is an absolutely amazing destination.
The house is beautiful and perfect for a group or family. The rooms are all very private and luxurious. The garden creates a tropical rainforest feel and it’s right on the beach.
We chose to get married here and used Simple Wedding Plan as our vendor. Everything was so easy and taken care of. The food was delicious and guests raved about it. Frances, the house manager doubled as the wedding coordinator for the day and was an absolute pleasure to work with, she took the stress out of the planning.
We loved every moment of the time we spent here and highly recommend it.

INSTANT ZEN
With borders closed, our mid-year trip to the tropics was a no-go and so the search started for the next best thing. Enter Barefoot at Broken Head . Just South of Byron Bay, this hidden paradise was about as far north as we could go without border control directing a U turn. North was a tick for our two families of sun worshipers. Next tick, Fran, the concierge. Your own holiday PA! No question went unanswered, Fran’s response was always speedy and her advice spot on regarding when and where to book restaurants, catering, spa, market trips etc. When we arrived Fran was putting our Woolies delivery in the fridge, which we did notice despite being distracted by the expansive villas and gardens we just entered.
Onto the house. Loved, loved, loved the idea of the central villa with piano and huge lounge. Many reds drunk here. Beds were comfy, quality linen and lots of rugs and pillows. The master bedroom was like a honeymoon suite, the outdoor bath my personal favourite. The bathroom in the other double room was large too. The other three bedrooms were small but hey, we didn’t go there to sleep!
The beach was as good as it gets, not busy, flat enough to ride a bike or walk to Suffolk Park Bakery – severe calorie warning. The was ocean nippy but nice and so clear. Liked the fact we could walk out the back gate and have a path to walk beach, eat your heart out Chris Hemsworth, home-to-beach distance a big tick if you are going to live in Byron. Pool at the house was gorgeous too, note to self – return in summer.
Final tick, the owners have good taste in decor and design. Clearly they get the whole chillax idea with sun beds, water features, daybeds and decks for outdoor massage. We were sad to leave but full of anticipation to chill here one summer. We’ll be back. Thank you.

An amazing holiday at Barefoot!
Tim the owner was great in helping us organise a fantastic trip for my mother-in-law’s 70 th birthday . The house was just breathtaking and whilst we were there we had 2 amazing dinners cooked in house by 2 very talented chefs ( a chefs pocket ) to be honest if I knew how good they were before we booked I think I would have booked them every night. Frances who looked after our needs was just fabulous! She was happy to help us book and organise anything we wanted !

A special getaway!
We were immediately relaxed as soon as we stepped foot into Barefoot, maybe it was spacious surrounds; the sound of the pool water feature, or Frances’ (manager) warm welcome! It is such a beautiful space and feels tucked away from the outside world, even though everything we needed was within reach. Including the fabulous beach which you can hear from the property. The house is spectacular. We had a small group of people staying, some with children and it never felt like we were tripping over each other, there were plenty of areas to relax. My little pups had an amazing time in the yard too and I really appreciate the pet-friendly option! We organised their recommended caterers for dinner one night, it was awesome!! The food was amazing and the chefs were so relaxed – felt like part of our group. Thanks again Tim!

As good as it gets!!!
Along with our immediate family, we just spent 9 amazing days in this stunning home. Sitting in a private enclave with access to the beach, this 5 bedroom, 4 bathroom home was the perfect venue for our group of 8 adults and 3 children. The home is beautifully appointed and furnished and the pavilion-style layout ideal for a large group. Concierge, Frances was amazing, organizing a chef for a beautiful birthday dinner, groceries delivered and stored prior to arrival and an on-site yoga session, a service I have never experienced before in any holiday home I have rented anywhere in the world. Owner Tim, was very informative and helpful prior to and during our stay promptly answering any questions we had. I love Byron Bay and have been traveling there for five decades, but the town itself and the immediate surroundings are very busy, Broken Head is in close proximity, but sufficiently removed to provide the seclusion and privacy we required for a relaxing beach holiday. This is a very special property and one our entire family enjoyed immensely. As good as it gets.

A Most Awesome Beach Hideaway
An unbelievably perfect way to celebrate any occasion. It all started with the amazing owner, Tim. Such a gentleman and he assisted with any queries promptly. Our beautiful concierge Frances, attended to some groceries to be ready for our arrival. She was at the property to greet us with such warmth I felt I knew her. We also had some food prepared by the gorgeous and bubbly Terase, owner of Taste Byron Bay. The prepared meals were waiting in the fridge upon our arrival so we could snack at our leisure. Terase also catered for us a couple of the nights, so we could enjoy her delicious food in the comfort of this stunning property. This made our experience so much more enjoyable and relaxing. The whole experience has been a brilliant way for me to remember spending a special occasion with some of my closest friends. Everything worked, the air-conditioning was great, and the wi-fi worked very well. The phone reception was a little dodgy and I was grateful for that! Great spot, well laid out, lots of privacy and stroll to beach
Lovely property, plenty of space for large family or groups. Quite and peaceful. Beach just 3 minutes walk and you can hear the ocean above everything else. Well maintained, and great furnishings. Comfy beds and plenty of sleeping alternatives. Very happy to recommend. Top spot away from the crowds of Byron yet 10 minutes in an Uber which are available with ease.

Amazing property, spacious private pavilions, wildlife abounds, natural setting, suits large family
We spent 6 nights with our 3 kids, their 3 partners, 2 grandkids & 3 dogs, it was our gift to the family as a Xmas present, we all bonded well, no fights, had a great time, amazing walks, dog friendly beaches, home-cooked dinners, the local bakery is the best, lots of bike riding along the beach, bamboo craft workshop, great pool, a short nature walk to the beach, highly recommended.

Gorgeous comfortable property with lots of space and tranquil atmosphere.
Had a lovely family holiday here. Weather wasn’t perfect but the house was. It didn’t matter when it rained because the house was such a delight to be in. Great beds and spacious luxurious bedrooms and bathrooms. Living room pavilion had such a great feel and many hours spent playing the ( in tune and excellent) piano, guitar, singing, watching movies, reading, hanging out. The whole place has a great atmosphere. The bikes and boards all happily put to use. Lovely pool area and lap pool. Great welcome from Frances. Use the shopping delivery option. Such a great idea. Superb massages as well organized by Frances. We will be back.

Thanks Tim and Frances for your friendly guidance and for being so available. We took advantage of the meal delivery option from Taste on the first night and relaxed straight away. The house itself is kept in pristine condition, the large garden and pools are immaculate, and the kitchen is a joy to cook in. We were 8 adults and all had plenty of privacy… what a dream house

Our extended family found this to be a beautifully presented holiday home. The configuration of the house and gardens made it ideal to spend group time as well as having individual areas to escape for peace and quiet. The house had so much to offer with two pools and a beautiful garden setting. Close access to the beach was a bonus. We would highly recommend this getaway to a large group or family.

Barefoot… you’ve done it again!
Having been married at Barefoot in 2016, coming back was like coming home 🙂 We relished our 5 days spent relaxing in the reading pool and lounging in the comfort and elegance of Barefoot. Making the most of this perfect location, we enjoyed long beach walks, the scenic Three Sisters walking track and trips to Byron. Barefoot has all the creature comforts of home, coupled with style and luxury to make your stay feel special. Once again, thank you to Frances who made us feel so welcome and ensured we were comfortable for the duration of our stay. It just doesn’t get any better than Barefoot!

Golden Wedding
Our family of 8 came over from NZ to celebrate our Golden Wedding. The property was all we expected it to be and was amazing for an age mix of 7 years to 86 years. We could not have asked for more. Took advantage of pre-arrival shopping done for us to stock our fridges and pantry and also had recommend caterer to spoil us for our celebration long lunch. Situated in a quiet gated complex and a 2min stroll to a beautiful beach I would certainly recommend this place for a special occasion.

Wonderful set up for groups
Barefoot was perfect for our family of 11 to celebrate a special birthday. Well set up with your own sleeping and ensuite..we had 3 families. The central living area, kitchen and pool areas worked very well.

From the minute we viewed Barefoot, we knew it was going to be the place that we got married. Fran was fantastic throughout the entire process. Nothing was too much trouble. We live in the area and were still blown away by the beauty, privacy and access of Barefoot. We had friends and family from all over the world and every single person mentioned how amazing the property was. Having our nearest and dearest staying with us in Barefoot topped the week off. The kids loved the pool and I loved every aspect of our stay. From the lead up to departure, we were looked after with service that is rare to find these days. Thank you so much Tim and Fran for making our week so special.

Fantastic Stay
We have just stayed here for 7 nights. 2 families and a nana! Was brilliant. Location is fantastic, walking distance the beach and a short drive to wee shopping area. This family-friendly house has a superb pool and outdoor area and really is set up for the sunshine – of which Byron has plenty. There was Netflix and Foxtel for when the kids wanted to chill, a piano and plenty of board games. Also had bikes and surfboards. We cooked a couple of nights and the kitchen was well equipped even had some lovely organic Byron bay teas supplied and a coffee machine. Fran, the concierge, was more than obliging and nothing was too much trouble. Amongst other things, she organised road bikes for my husband, yoga on the deck for the ladies, in-house massages, surfing lessons for the kids and an amazing private chef one night. Highly recommend Barefoot – you won’t be disappointed.

Amazing Wedding Location & Family Escape!
We knew Barefoot was the perfect wedding venue for us before we even went to see it in person! We wanted something relaxed & beachy, with a tropical vibe. We enjoyed 5 days staying at the house with our immediate families, with our wedding day taking place in the middle. The location is so relaxing & we made the most of it once the wedding excitement was complete, with beach walking, swimming in the sea, stand up paddle boarding at the tea tree lake & dips in the pool. Frances was so helpful through the whole process, especially on the wedding day. Thank you for everything!

Home away from home – heaven for people and pets!
We had a group of 8 (and 1 very happy dog) who all had every need catered for at Barefoot. The property has it’s own ambiance that creates a feeling of relaxed fun and the compound design means you can have as much time together or apart as you like. Take a walk out the back gate, through a few meters of national park and you are instantly on the most beautiful beach. The property has a few bikes that you can take down and ride along the sand, which was absolutely magical at dusk. At the heart of Barefoot is the most comfy lounge that opens up entirely with large bi-fold doors. It features a piano, board games, BBQ and anything else you might need to have a great time with loved ones. There is a relaxed pool and lap pool off the kitchen/dining that takes care of all the rest! Take advantage of the concierge service offered at Barefoot. Frances is so lovely and will make sure your trip is wonderfully memorable. Byron Bay is only 15min away, delicious Suffolk Bakery coffee is only 5min, as is the ultimate dog beach! Definitely visit Barefoot! Wake up to the birds, laugh and play with those that matter, eat like a king and simply relax!

We’ve been everywhere man, and this is world class. We sent the shopping list ahead and relaxed as soon as we walked into this huge, classy house. Spotlessly clean, sparkling heated pools, manicured gardens, real attention to comfort. It’s even better than the pictures, just wow, we’ll be back.

Surf trip at Barefoot
Barefoot provided all the goods for a comfortable relaxing environment. The layout of the rooms to the main house almost felt like we was in Bali. Amazing entertainment area were we spent alot of our time recovering from a surf and relaxing. good Perfect location for a back door entry onto broken head beach. Had good swell conditions all weekend which put the cherry on top. Unfortanetly it rained all weekend but besides that we couldnt fault this place. Looking foward to our next stay at Barefoot in the near future. Also Frances was very helpful with all needs making it an easy stay. Cheers guys

Beautiful beachside pavilion
This set of pavilions is an amazing place to stay. I had my 40th birthday party here and it was just beautiful! Many of my guests came from far away, and this property was able to sleep 12 comfortably, with another two on mattresses on the floor. One night two of my guests slept alfresco on the daybed outside the honeymoon pavilion, which they found delightful. Because I booked an event at Barefoot, we were required to liaise with the house manager, who was perfect, unobtrusive and amazing. We were also required to make use of the house approved catering (Figtree Catering) which I probably would’ve used anyway! Needless to say, the food and staff were beautiful. The house itself is set up well so that guests can be together or alone, the kitchen is well stocked, bathrooms ample and the garden is very lovely. Distance to the beach is a plus for anytime of year, and even though Barefoot is situated in a gated complex and the neighbouring pavilions are actually quite close, everything is very quiet and private. There are some surfboards and a paddle board and some bikes for getting around. I really love this place. Highly recommended.

We booked this magnificent home not only for a wonderful vacation, though also for our wedding. First off, the owner Tim, and the manger Frances, are just fantastic! The booking was easy and Frances took care of anything we needed or asked about. No matter what you see on this website, other booking sites or their direct website, nothing can compare with actually seeing this place in person. This Bali style home is truly one of a kind and can’t be described in a few sentences. Every single aspect of the home, from the pool, to the rooms, to the kitchen and the amazing manicured grounds were all above and beyond what we expected – and talk about a true living room! To be just a couple minutes walk out the back gate to the spectacular Broken Head beach was a dream. We couldn’t of asked for a more beautiful location for our wedding and reception – we are still in awe! We will definitely be back with a few close friends to once again enjoy what must be one of the top residential rentals throughout Australia. Thank you Tim and Frances!!!

The best beach house
Barefoot at Broken Head is a magnificent home designed in resort style with easy living beside the pools. Its name belies the way I spent the week – barefoot ! The external living areas were large and the rainforest gardens provided a peaceful space to undertake our morning yoga sessions arranged by the owners. This open living style enabled our group of 16 family members to have plenty of personal space and of significance to us was the security and privacy provided by the property walls. Our grand kids were always in a secure location and could not wander off. To cap it off all furnishings, bedding and facilities were first class as was the unexpected mid week clean provided by the owners. Overall a fabulous holiday at a fabulous place.

Our family stayed for a week. David and I were married in the garden and held our reception at Barefoot. Our stay and celebration was one of the best weeks of our lives. Such a beautiful place so close to the beach and with the shallow pool for the kids we did not want for anything. The accommodation was very much suited to a large family with children of any age. Frances the property manager was so lovely nothing was a problem for her and she helped our Wedding celebration run smoothly. Highly recommended Barefoot for your wedding, celebration and holiday.

This was our second visit to Barefoot and it did not disappoint. We have had a weekend away with friends and now a week of total relaxation with family. Spectacular
My brother and his family were out from Dubai so I wanted somewhere very Australian and very spectacular to catch up for a few days. Barefoot was perfect. The beach is unbelievable and the ocean was warmer than we expected for June – a good month for waves. The house is huge and beautifully appointed. Complete privacy for each family and heaps to do for the kids. The low tide bike ride really is unforgettable. This is the perfect option if you really want to impress.
